Spring Cleaning Guide

Spring has finally sprung. The winter weather is slowly vanishing and spring fever is hitting the country. Homeowners are getting the itch to get outside and knock the memory of cold weather from their houses. If your home has been buried with snow or just feeling the fatigue of a long winter then it is definitely time to get out your spring cleaning checklist and start knocking off tasks. There are some spring cleaning ideas that might make the most impact on your home. These tasks may take a little more effort than washing your sheets, but at the end of the day they are definitely worth it. Your home will look beautiful and bright to match the new warm weather outside.

Washing All the Windows

Washing windows might be on your weekly list of chores. Keeping your windows clean throughout the year is a great idea. The spring cleaning version of washing your windows is a little more intense. When the warm weather hits, it’s time to tackle all of the windows in your home. From basement windows to the windows at the top of your home, cleaning each one will get your spring cleaning checklist off to a start. This step also includes the outsides of your windows which may not be cleaned properly throughout the year. Break out the ladder and get to the outsides of your windows as well. Clear away any debris that has built up around the window and make sure your seal is tight and secure. Washing your windows will make your home instantly brighter and give it a bump in curb appeal.

Serious Landscaping

If you have a landscaped home and a broad garden then you know the importance of making sure your landscaping is brought back to life sooner than later. Spring cleaning for your yard should involve clearing out any flower beds that have been weighed down with a ton of leaves over the fall and winter months. It might seem like a major waste, but if you find any dead plants or plants you no longer need then your best bet is to pull them now instead of waiting and hoping that they return. With plants you no longer need, if there is another bed at the back of your home or located on your property then try rehoming the plant. Trim back shrubbery and tree limbs which may have been damaged during the winter. Remember – you can always plant new bushes or flowers.

Clean Flooring

It’s a part of your home that is often forgotten. You walk around each day on your flooring and probably never give it a second thought. Your eyes are level with what’s around you. This includes furniture, walls, linens, and things you can clearly see. Getting down on the floor and searching over your carpet or flooring is another story. One of the biggest spring cleaning projects you can take on just happens to involve the floors of your home. For carpet, a deep clean is a perfect way to bring back the life of your floor. Many companies offer spring cleaning deals and discounts so take advantage during this time. Wood floors can be cleaned and polished with wood care supplies. Cleaning your floors and bring them back to their natural shine and color will give your home a huge boost on your spring cleaning adventures.
